Being a community
In my neighborhood I’ve found great people to connect with. Local friendships are just around the corner literally. Been thinking you’d like a walking partner or a fishing buddy? Here’s how I have been growing my community lately.
When I am outside my house I like to strike up conversations with my neighbors. This time of year the air is fresh and the breeze is cool. Being outdoors feels like a neutral space that is open to new possibilities for creating friendships for me. Recently while chatting with my neighbor I learned that his wife makes an excellent spanakopita every so often. Lucky break for me…I love spanakopita and they were willing to share! Since finding this out we have shared recipes and plates of our delicious specialties. The greatest part of this new connection is how nice it feels to share the little things. It feels simple because it’s close to home.
Last week I found out that another neighbor down the way is a sculptor. So cool! Once upon a time I planned to be a Sculpturist. I am now working on finding him someone who can complete some welding for one of his works. He shared a portion of his sculpting clay and a dvd so that I can see how to recreate the human form. I’m definitely excited to have a new friend who is so art focused.
My goal is to keep expanding my neighborhood friends until I know everyone in Seattle ;’)
